Dear 6th Grade Student,
Welcome to sixth grade! You will be taking classes in ELA, Math, Social Studies and Science with us. We are looking forward to an exciting year filled with interesting activities and events.
We will provide you with a student agenda, so please don’t purchase one. On the back of this page you will find a list of school supplies you will need for most 6th grade classes. The supply list for special area classes will be included in the summer mailing.
Please don’t purchase backpacks on wheels as they do not fit in school lockers and cannot be stored in the classrooms.
Remember to read for pleasure this summer! You can enjoy books and snacks when the Solar Express comes to a location near you, or you can participate in “A Universe of Stories” Summer Reading Program at Southworth Library on Wednesdays from 7-9pm between July 10th and August 14th.

6th Grade Supply List
Mandatory Items to be collected:
- 4 large boxes of pencils, sharpened preferred
- 1 box cap erasers
- 3 boxes of tissues
- 2 black gel pens for Social Studies
- 2 odor-free dry erase markers for Math
- Eight 2-pocket folders in a design of your choice to stay in your ELA, Math, Social Studies, and Science classrooms.
Mandatory Items the Student Keeps:
- One sturdy purple 2-pocket folder for Homework
- Spiral notebook (wide-ruled) for Science
Recommended:
- Binder for homework folder, agenda, and special area folders
- 3-ring zippered pencil pouch
- Earbuds or headphones for use with chromebooks
- Colored pencils
- Handheld pencil sharpener
